Description
A look through the glass of a window allows the viewer to see the inner workings of canal locks. The gears, wheels, and cogged bars are used to open and close the gates raise the water level in the canal. The rounded area of the camera's lens gives a look inside. Beyond the scope of the lens, the canal waters are reflected around the edges of the glass.
The historic Augusta Canal (GA) is remarkably well preserved. In fact, it has been revitalized in recent years, and is a good place to walk, run, play, marry, and/or view nature. This photo was taken through a window which lets the modern public see how the locks were maneuvered when the canal was an important part of Augusta's economy.
