Description
The essence of a flower -- the pollen that creates the next generation. Tall shapely stamen burst with golden yellow pollen, against the flaming background of its own petals. The deep throat of the American Indian daylily is vivid yellow, changing to orange-red where the throat joins the petals. The focus in this image is the pollen pads, which curve into the picture on graceful filaments. The backs of the pads are burnished brown; the fronts fuzzy with the yellow powder.
