Artist's Description

Between the clear blue sky of winter and the pond which reflects it stands a covered walkway. The beams supporting it stand erect. Reflected in the cold water, they seem twice as tall. The trees that grow tall beside the path huddle together, stretching their shivering, naked limbs toward the sun. Soon will come the warmer weather of spring.

North Augusta, SC, has made a lovely natural park out of several mud pits. Brick Pond Park has walking paths cutting between the ponds, including this one with a sheltered bridge.

I've always loved looking at nature, drifting along with the ever-changing clouds, stopping to smell the roses. God's creation gives an abundant and ever changing variety of subjects for me to capture. I enjoy photographing all of nature, from the wide vistas of mountains and valleys, right down to spiders, butterflies, and dewdrops. I bought my first camera, a Canon AE-1, in 1979, and practiced and experimented and asked questions. I still ask questions and read blogs; but I've never taken a formal course or workshop. I switched to digital in 2000, which allows more experimenting, with instant feedback, so I can correct a shot immediately. My current camera is a Nikon D-90, with a 28-300 and a macro.
