Artist's Description

Along the Gulf Coast, the air is clear and the water is flat. The sky, pale near the horizon, deepens into a royal blue as it gains altitude. That sky is reflected on the water, broken by a few ripply waves. On the left edge of the photo the water is shallow; you can see the sand at the bottom. The horizon is low, to allow the billowing clouds their place in the frame. Their popcorn shapes are coming together, foretelling the thunderclouds they will become.
