With head lifted high, one turtle follows another up a leaning log. The lagoon behind them is full of floating algae; green scum thickens the surface of the water. The pond is so solidly covered that the casual viewer might think the animals are walking across it. But in the foreground, one small patch of water shows where the cooters have surfaced. The missing patches are tangled on their backs, bright green mossiness on a hard black shell, obscuring the square patterns.
I've always loved looking at nature, drifting along with the ever-changing clouds, stopping to smell the roses. God's creation gives an abundant and ever changing variety of subjects for me to capture. I enjoy photographing all of nature, from the wide vistas of mountains and valleys, right down to spiders, butterflies, and dewdrops. I bought my first camera, a Canon AE-1, in 1979, and practiced and experimented and asked questions. I still ask questions and read blogs; but I've never taken a formal course or workshop. I switched to digital in 2000, which allows more experimenting, with instant feedback, so I can correct a shot immediately. My current camera is a Nikon D-90, with a 28-300 and a macro.
