A single water lily stands tall among green leaves -- splashes of color against the dark water. The pink color of the petals gradually turns into a yellow center. Floating on the black pond water, round lily pads, in shades of green, open their mouths like a multitude of Pacmen. Zen-like quality in a campground. Stay a while; let the calm wash over you.
This scene is at odds with itself. Bold pink and green against a flat black background. The vibrant colors, against the inert water. The tall-stemmed lily against the flat, round pads. A still life in pink and green.
About Kay Lovingood
I've always loved looking at nature, drifting along with the ever-changing clouds, stopping to smell the roses. God's creation gives an abundant and ever changing variety of subjects for me to capture. I enjoy photographing all of nature, from the wide vistas of mountains and valleys, right down to spiders, butterflies, and dewdrops. I bought my first camera, a Canon AE-1, in 1979, and practiced and experimented and asked questions. I still ask questions and read blogs; but I've never taken a formal course or workshop. I switched to digital in 2000, which allows more experimenting, with instant feedback, so I can correct a shot immediately. My current camera is a Nikon D-90, with a 28-300 and a macro.
