Description
Yellow, yellow everywhere, with this macro shot of a yellow day lily. Yellow petals angle toward one another and meet in the yellow throat. Stamen, pistils, and anthers continue the color scheme -- all are bright golden yellow.
As do most day lilies, this one angles out from the stalk that holds it up. Thus, the base of the blossom is in the bottom left corner of the image; and it opens toward the right side. Each petal reaches beyond the edge of the photo, some stretching out, and others bending back. With the stamens and pistils extending from the mouth, the blossom seems to be saying "Ahhh".
Only a small bit of non-yellow shows from the background, and that is the dark green foliage of other lilies. The viewer might see one vertical, sword-shaped leaf in the bottom left corner, accompanied by a tiny spot of purple, from a different flower. These little edge sections of other color simply provide contrast for the image.
