Breaking waves crash onto the shore as the rising sun pierces the clouds. The waves and clouds, alike in their dark grayness, dominate the scene. Farther to the right, the clouds weaken and dissipate, giving way to a clear blue sky. The water reflects that change, adding a hint of blue to its gray surface.
Closer to the horizon, below the stripe of clouds, the sky is gold and yellow, glowing white hot as it centers around the sun. The sun, partly obscured by the thick clouds, finds a hole to shine through; and that flash of morning light reflects across the waves, towards the viewer.
I've always loved looking at nature, drifting along with the ever-changing clouds, stopping to smell the roses. God's creation gives an abundant and ever changing variety of subjects for me to capture. I enjoy photographing all of nature, from the wide vistas of mountains and valleys, right down to spiders, butterflies, and dewdrops. I bought my first camera, a Canon AE-1, in 1979, and practiced and experimented and asked questions. I still ask questions and read blogs; but I've never taken a formal course or workshop. I switched to digital in 2000, which allows more experimenting, with instant feedback, so I can correct a shot immediately. My current camera is a Nikon D-90, with a 28-300 and a macro.
