Artist's Description

Blue sky and golden clouds promise good weather for the coming day. The ocean is calm, hardly a ripple or a wave, as it laps onto the shore. The undulations of the sand cause a scalloped pattern in the approaching waves.

On the horizon, a thin cloud bank hides the brilliance of the sun. But its golden color will not be denied.The sun casts a fiery yellow lining onto the top of the cloud bank and washes the higher clouds in a soft peachy yellow.

Higher up, the sky is clear blue and the clouds are white. The formation of the clouds at the top of the image remind me of a white dove with wings outstretched in flight. Puffy white clouds of pointillism.

I've always loved looking at nature, drifting along with the ever-changing clouds, stopping to smell the roses. God's creation gives an abundant and ever changing variety of subjects for me to capture. I enjoy photographing all of nature, from the wide vistas of mountains and valleys, right down to spiders, butterflies, and dewdrops. I bought my first camera, a Canon AE-1, in 1979, and practiced and experimented and asked questions. I still ask questions and read blogs; but I've never taken a formal course or workshop. I switched to digital in 2000, which allows more experimenting, with instant feedback, so I can correct a shot immediately. My current camera is a Nikon D-90, with a 28-300 and a macro.
