Adding to a pale, pastel palette, mares tails and jet trails stripe the sherbet-colored sky. Their elongated stripes parallel the distant horizon and emphasize the flatness of the land. A wide expanse of blue shows behind the wispy clouds and reflects off the stillness of the sea.
The low angle of the camera affirms the wideness of the beach and the highness of the sky. In the small strip between them, golden yellow, orange, and mauve hint at the sun rising behind a bank of clouds. The foreground is still in shadows, not yet touched by day; but the details are there, with footprints and a row of washed-up sea grass.
I've always loved looking at nature, drifting along with the ever-changing clouds, stopping to smell the roses. God's creation gives an abundant and ever changing variety of subjects for me to capture. I enjoy photographing all of nature, from the wide vistas of mountains and valleys, right down to spiders, butterflies, and dewdrops. I bought my first camera, a Canon AE-1, in 1979, and practiced and experimented and asked questions. I still ask questions and read blogs; but I've never taken a formal course or workshop. I switched to digital in 2000, which allows more experimenting, with instant feedback, so I can correct a shot immediately. My current camera is a Nikon D-90, with a 28-300 and a macro.
