Description
Tall grass stretches upward along the shore of a small lake. Its blades are slim and straight, growing vertically, with a few bent, or at an angle. At the center of the image, flanked by these reeds, is one rust-colored seed spike, drooping in its heaviness, curved like a rooster's tail feather. Small bits of the rust color are picked up along the tips of the grass blades, too.
Behind all this is the surface of a pond, which serves only to provide a backdrop of basic color. A reflection of shadowy trees and an almost white sky can be seen upside down, coming from the far shore. Along with the lack of color in the background, the soft-focus effect of the backdrop allows the reeds in the foreground to stand out as the focal point of the scene.
