Artist's Description
An Eastern Bluebird poses on a branch, surrounded by trees and leaves. With tiny feet gripping a substantial branch, the bird looks toward the right, attention focused away from the viewer.
The background is purposely out of focus, a mottled mix of green with bits of sky showing through. In sharp contrast are the bird's colors -- blue head and back, red throat, and white belly. The twisting branch splits the image horizontally, making a stage for the songbird's performance.

I've always loved looking at nature, drifting along with the ever-changing clouds, stopping to smell the roses. God's creation gives an abundant and ever changing variety of subjects for me to capture. I enjoy photographing all of nature, from the wide vistas of mountains and valleys, right down to spiders, butterflies, and dewdrops. I bought my first camera, a Canon AE-1, in 1979, and practiced and experimented and asked questions. I still ask questions and read blogs; but I've never taken a formal course or workshop. I switched to digital in 2000, which allows more experimenting, with instant feedback, so I can correct a shot immediately. My current camera is a Nikon D-90, with a 28-300 and a macro.
