Everything about this church building points upward toward God: the steeple, with a cross on top; the pointed windows; the angle of the roof, with its multiple gables; even the small cross tucked under the eave. The purity of the white exterior contrasts with the dark wooden doors and unlit windows. The angle of the roof, upward to the tip of the cross suggests a diagonal line, with blue sky on one side and the radiance of worship on the other.
In the background, the beginning of sunset lights up the sky, adding to the glorious scene. The few clouds glow with light -- bright white, lemon yellow, and pale peach. The sun's rays push their way through.
I've always loved looking at nature, drifting along with the ever-changing clouds, stopping to smell the roses. God's creation gives an abundant and ever changing variety of subjects for me to capture. I enjoy photographing all of nature, from the wide vistas of mountains and valleys, right down to spiders, butterflies, and dewdrops. I bought my first camera, a Canon AE-1, in 1979, and practiced and experimented and asked questions. I still ask questions and read blogs; but I've never taken a formal course or workshop. I switched to digital in 2000, which allows more experimenting, with instant feedback, so I can correct a shot immediately. My current camera is a Nikon D-90, with a 28-300 and a macro.
