Artist's Description
Yachts, houseboats, and tall-masted sailboats are moored at Shelter Cove Marina on Hilton Head Island. Vertical pilings form a parallel line into the distance on both sides of the image, with pontoons stretching along beside the boats. The clear brown surface of the water is calm and mirror-like, reflecting the deep blue sky. In the background, the terra-cotta roofs of condo buildings form the horizon. The mix of colors --blue, brown, red, and green -- forms a pleasing background for the floating whiteness of the boats.

I've always loved looking at nature, drifting along with the ever-changing clouds, stopping to smell the roses. God's creation gives an abundant and ever changing variety of subjects for me to capture. I enjoy photographing all of nature, from the wide vistas of mountains and valleys, right down to spiders, butterflies, and dewdrops. I bought my first camera, a Canon AE-1, in 1979, and practiced and experimented and asked questions. I still ask questions and read blogs; but I've never taken a formal course or workshop. I switched to digital in 2000, which allows more experimenting, with instant feedback, so I can correct a shot immediately. My current camera is a Nikon D-90, with a 28-300 and a macro.
